Eye-catching Wall Graphics in Wheeling Hospital

The Wheeling Hospital Auxiliary of Wheeling, West Virginia, took a unique and creative approach for a donor recognition wall to identify contributors to the hospital's Howard Long Wellness Center.

The center-which offers a variety of wellness and fitness programs-chose male and female runners to depict the sports theme as the central images on the donor recognition wall. The 10' x 8' resin shapes are mounted on a cherry wood veneer that is scored in squares, which are outlined by black recessed grooves. Natural and incandescent lighting reflect off personalized brass donor plates, etched with contributors' names.

The wall represents the talents of the following:

  • Sculptor: Stephen Geddes, Cincinnati, Ohio
  • Designer: Kathleen M. Werle, Design Cincinnati International, Inc.
  • Architect: Dan A. Carmichael, Columbus, Ohio
  • Etched brass plates and cast brass letters: Matthews Bronze, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Matthews' products distributor: Anlin Industries, Wexford, Pennsylvania
  • Art connoisseur: Howard Long, Wheeling, West Virginia
