General
Municipalities that license motorized vehicles or bicycles use customized license plates. Typical information on the plate includes: Name of municipality, type of license, year(s) for which license is valid and sequential numbers. Novelty license plates are also available for groups and organizations to use for promotional advertising.

Uses
Municipal license plates to identify vehicles may read: Taxi, Tow Truck, Bicycle, Milk Vendor, Limousine, ATV, Refreshment Vehicle, Vendor, Driving School, Commercial, Food Vendor, Accessible Taxicab, Police, Livery or Sanitation Vehicle.
Novelty license plates are used for promotional advertising. These are produced from customer-supplied artwork.

Materials
.024” Aluminum or .022” Galvanized Steel. Aluminum does not rust and is light weight for handling and storage. Steel is more economical and does not bend as easily. Novelty license plates are only available in Aluminum.

Graphics
Letters are embossed (raised). For LP1 and LP2 styles, the length of wording determines the size of letters. Letters are 3/8" to 5/8"with the year 1/2". Sequential numbers are 7/8" on the LP1 and 1-7/8" on the LP2.

Graphics on the novelty license plates (styles LP3 through LP6) are silk-screened and then embossed. There is no artwork charge if we are supplied with color-separated, professional, computer or camera-ready artwork. We accept PC or MAC format 3-1/2" disk, Zip or CD-ROM with files in Corel Draw 10 (or older), Adobe Illustrator 9 (or older), Quark Express 4.0, EPS or TIF formats. No color bitmaps. Convert all text to outlines or curves when using MAC format. Include printer fonts when using PC format.

Finishes
LP1 & LP2 styles have white baked enamel background color. Border and letter color options are Red, Blue, Black or Green. Custom colors are available by request.

LP3 - LP6 novelty license plates have a choice of 1 stock background color and 1 imprint color. Additional copy colors and half tones are available. Copy colors can be matched to Pantone Matching System colors. Stock painted background colors are: White, Black, Bright Red, Dark Red, Orange, Chrome Yellow, Mustard Yellow, Caution Yellow, Cream, Light Blue, Medium Blue, Dark Blue, Brown, Tan, Light Green, Dark Green, Painted Silver, & Painted Gold. Natural Aluminum, Super Deluxe Silver, & Super Deluxe Gold are also available as unpainted metal colors for either the background or the embossed graphics..

Specify one of these standards or your own hole pattern.

  • LP1 - 2 slots 3/4" x 3/16" and 3/16" center top hole with an optional 3/8" axle hole for bicycles.
  • LP1 - 4 holes 1/8" or 1/4" diameter
  • LP2 - 4 holes 3/16" or 1/4" diameter
  • LP2 - 4 slots 1/2" x 1/4"
  • LP3 & LP4 - 4 slots 1" x 1/4"
