General
All standard leaves are die cut from .020" leaded brass engraving stock. They are shipped preinstalled to the acrylic tree tops using 4/40 X 3/16" brass round head machine screws. When Matthews attaches the leaves to the acrylic top, the clear protective sheeting is removed from each leaf. If we preship the leaves for engraving, the clear sheeting will be left on the leaves for protection.

The stones for our traditional trees are sculpted cast bronze and have an .020" leaded brass plate attached to the surface for engraving. The contemporary stones are cut from 1/4" thick yellow brass (which matches the contemporary trunk) and also come with an .020" leaded brass plate for engraving.

Matthews does not provide engraving for these products.

Helpful Hints

  • If donor names are known at the time the tree is ordered, request that the leaves be sent to you in advance. Once they're engraved, return them to Matthews for assembly on the tree top.

  • All leaves and the plates for the stones are made from leaded yellow brass with a clear, protective lacquered finish. Once they are engraved, an oxidizing solution may be used to turn the copy black.

  • Handle leaves carefully when removing or replacing from the tree top. To prevent scratching, wrap each leaf separately, allowing no contact with other leaves.

  • Silver colored aluminum leaves and copper leaves are also available in .020" material. Different material colors (brass, silver and copper) can be used to designate different levels of giving. In addition, other colors and metals are available by special quotation.
