What We Accept
E-mail attachments or artwork uploaded via Matthews on-line ordering system is the preferred method of receiving files.

In addition, the following methods are accepted:

• CD's, 100 MB ZIP Disks or 3.5" floppies
  (Mac format preferred or PC format)
• Black & White Photostats on photographic paper
• Laser-printed original output at 600-dpi minimum
• Black vinyl cut from a plotter (and weeded!)

Sending Artwork via E-mail or Disks
In either case, please include the following:

• Documents(s) appropriately saved
• Artwork appropriately formatted
• Font(s) used in any documents or artwork. Please place fonts in a folder when e-mailing. If your browser does not support an attached folder, you may compress your fonts and attach them as a zipped file.

Document information
Save layout documents under:

• Adobe Illustrator 88 - 8.0
• Adobe Photoshop 2.0 - 5.0
• Adobe Pagemaker 6.0 - 6.5
• Multi-Ad Creator 3.5 - 4.05
• Quark Xpress 3.32 - 4.1

Save text documents (unformatted only) under:

• Microsoft Word 4.0 - 6.0

Artwork information
Save artwork (Black & White only with no grayscale images or dot patterns!) in one of the following formats:

• .AI
• .EPS

Font information
PC Files
When document(s) and/or artwork are created on a PC, convert Font files to curves or outlines.

Mac Files
When the document(s) and/or artwork are created on a Mac, convert Font files to outlines or include the following:

• Type 1 fonts only (not True Type)
• Both the screen and printer fonts
• Each version (regular, bold, italic) of the fonts used

Cast Plaque Artwork Requirements
For best reproduction in the casting process, please make sure your artwork conforms to these requirements:

• Raised letters
  The smallest letters for cast plaques are at least 1/4" caps or 3/8" caps/lower case. Minimum spacing between letters is 1/16".
• Recessed letters
  Minimum letter stroke of 1/8" at all points including serifs.
• Logos & emblems
  Recessed areas require 1/8" minimum line width. All other areas between objects require 1/16" minimum space. Thin lines must be at least 4 points in width.

Custom Cast Letters Artwork Requirements
Custom letterstyles are initially generated from a digital file. Matthews has access to fonts from the following sources:

• Corel Draw v9.397
• Adobe Illustrator v8.0
• Gerber Graphix Advantage v6.2 (Standard Fonts)

If the typestyle is available, no art is required with your order.

If the typestyle is not available from one of these sources or it has been modified in any way (Ex: italicized, condensed or expanded), please submit artwork in one of the acceptable formats.
